Sony Mobile has confirmed that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is currently rolling to the Xperia Z2 and Z3 series. It has also given a vague idea of the order in which the handsets will be updated. All of the handsets stem from the 2013/14 Sony Xperia range, what we don’t know right now is when the company plans to update its 2015 range to Android 5.1. We’ll let owners of the Xperia Z3+, Z4 Tablet, M4 Aqua, C4 et al. know once firm plans have been announced.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update has now started to seed for the Sony Xperia Z3. At the time of writing, Android 5.1.1 build number 23.4.A.0.546 has been released to select regions for the D6603 variant and D6653 variant. Sony Mobile has started to roll the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update for the Xperia Z2 series in the form of build number 23.4.A.0.546. The update has only been released for carriers of the D6503 Xperia Z2 variant so far, primarily for Vodafone, however we would expect generic versions to arrive soon enough. 
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update for the Sony Xperia Z3 Dual (D6633) initially started to seed over a week back, but only to a couple of regions. However, the update, which moves the Xperia Z3 Dual to build number 23.4.A.0.546, has now seen availability widen. The generic firmware is currently live in a number of regions including Brazil, Hong Kong, Middle East, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the USA. Some users are reporting issues with USSD codes not working, if you’ve downloaded the update let us know your experiences below. 
Let the countdown begin – the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update has been certified by the PTCRB for the Sony Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact in the form of build number 14.6.A.0.368. The build number has been certified across most variants for each handset: Xperia Z1 (C6902, C6903, C6943, C6906), Xperia Z Ultra (C6802, C6833, C6843, C6806) and Xperia Z1 Compact (D5503).
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update for the Xperia C3 and Xperia T2 Ultra has been certified by the PTCRB. Build number 19.4.A.0.180 has been certified for all variants of both handsets, including the dual-SIM versions. This compares to current build number 19.3.A.0.472. We will keep you posted once the Android 5.1 update is released. 
Sony Mobile has released the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update for the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual (D5322) in the form of build number 19.4.A.0.182. This compares to the previous update on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with build number 19.3.A.0.472. The update patches the phone against the Stagefright exploit. We expect the same build number to roll to the single SIM version of the Xperia T2 Ultra as well as the Xperia C3 models – we’ll let you know as soon as they are released. The older Sony Xperia Z series is now seeing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware start to seed in the form of build number 10.7.A.0.222. At the time of writing, we have noticed the update land on the Xperia Z (C6602, C6603 variants), Xperia ZL (C6503, C6506 variants), Xperia ZR (C5503 only) and Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi (SGP311, SGP312) and Xperia Tablet Z LTE models (SGP321 only). 
The Xperia T2 Ultra Dual started to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update 
The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update is now live for Sony Xperia C3 owners across a number of regions. Build number 19.4.A.0.182 represents the new update and is currently live for both the Xperia C3 (D2533) and Xperia C3 Dual (D2502).

Looks like Sony Xperia M2 series owners will finally be getting a taste of Lollipop shortly as Android 5.1.1 firmware has just been certified in the form of build number 18.6.A.0.175. The same update has been certified for all variants of the Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Dual as well as the Xperia M2 Aqua. The Xperia M2 series has been languishing on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and will now move straight to Android 5.1.1. We’ll keep you posted once the update lands. 
Sony Mobile has commenced the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware rollout for the Xperia M2 and M2 Aqua range of handsets. This is the first Lollipop experience for Xperia M2 owners as the handset has moved straight from Android 4.4.4 KitKat to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Sony Mobile updated the Xperia M2 
Sony Mobile has still not updated a number of H1 2015 Xperia devices to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, keeping the handsets firmly rooted on Android 5.0. The only 2015 Xperia devices that are currently running on Android 5.1.1 are the recently released Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact. 
The Sony Xperia C4 and C4 Dual were expected to move straight from Android 5.0 Lollipop to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, skipping Android 5.1 in the process. However, out of the blue, Sony has pushed the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the handset in the form of build number 27.2.A.0.155 for the Xperia C4 and build number 27.2.B.0.155 for the C4 Dual. 
After seeing the Xperia C4 unexpectedly see the Android 5.1 Lolllipop update yesterday, it looks like Sony has also pushed the button for the Xperia C5 Ultra. All variants of the handset are receiving the Android 5.1 firmware update – the Xperia C5 Ultra (E5553, E5506) has been updated to build number 29.1.A.0.87, whilst the Xperia C5 Ultra Dual (E5533, E5563) is being updated to version 29.1.B.0.87.
Sony Mobile has today updated the Xperia M5 to Android 5.1 Lollipop. The single SIM Xperia M5 (E5603, E5653, E5606) moves to build number 30.1.A.1.33, whilst the Xperia M5 Dual (E5633, E5663, E5643) moves to version 30.1.B.1.33. All of the variants, apart from E5643, are seeing the update roll at the time of writing.
